Instructions to Reset a Linksys Router Password

Step 1: The first step is to turn on your Linksys router. Most of the Linksys routers do not have a turn on or off switch. Once you plug in the device into the power outlet then it will turn on automatically. 

Step 2: Now, you have to wait for sometime until the power light starts blinking. After that, press and hold the reset button on your router for 10 seconds. 

Note: You will find the reset button at the backside of the router placed nearer to the power cord. But it is not essential as the location of the reset button can be changed depending on the Linksys router model. The older Linksys router takes 30 seconds to reset but the latest router will reset in 10 seconds. 

Step 3: Thereafter, power cycle your Linksys router. For this, you have to turn off your router and unplug it. After waiting for 30 seconds, plug it again and turn it on. 

Step 4: Now, you have to wait for sometime until the power LED light on your device will stop blinking. In case, the LED power light does not stop flashing then you have to switch off your router for 30 seconds and then switch it on again. 

Step 5: In the next step, connect your router to the computer using an Ethernet cable. Use any Ethernet port given on your router to connect with your computer device.

Step 6: Once your router is connected to the computer with an Ethernet cable, the port light will start blinking. 

Step 7: Switch off your modem and then plug in the router into the modem. You also need to switch on the modem again. 

Step 8: Now, your modem is successfully connected to the internet port in your computer and power outlet. Your Linksys router is connected to the modem. 

Step 9: Finally, your Linksys router is set up to the factory default settings and has set to the default settings.
